| next>edge has a longstanding, demonstrated commitment
to environmental guardianship and corporate social responsibility
and, in fact, was born out of these very values in our
parent company, Arden Realty.
Under the visionary guidance of founding Chairman and
CEO Richard Ziman, Arden has long been at the forefront
of good corporate citizenship and environmental accountability.
Arden was named the EPA’s ENERGY STAR
Partner of the Year for three consecutive years.
Today, Arden holds the largest number of EPA ENERGY
STAR labels for office buildings under a single ownership
in California, representing 52% of all ENERGY STAR labels
in the state and 26% in the nation. Arden’s efforts
across the portfolio reduce the company’s electric
energy consumption by approximately 41,000,000 kwh per
year, which avoids the emission of 55 million lbs. of
greenhouse gases and the usage of over 70,000 barrels
of oil per year. This is the equivalent of taking 6,130
cars off American roads annually, planting 8,397 acres
of trees annually, or powering 4,086 American homes
every year.
Since its inception, next>edge’s total projects
have cumulatively resulted in a reduction of 18 megawatts
(MW) of grid demand - enough to power over 18,500 homes,
and avoid the emission of 76 million lbs. of greenhouse
gases and the usage of over 97,000 barrels of oil per
year. This equates to taking 8,488 cars off American
roads annually, planting 11,627 acres of trees annually,
or powering 5,658 American homes every year. In addition,
next>edge customers hold the largest number of EPA
ENERGY STAR labels for office buildings in California
– 55% of all those in the state and 27% of those
in the nation.
next>edge is intent on demonstrating that fiscal
profitability and environmental accountability can go
hand in hand - and we deliver these very results time
and time again. This view is reflected in our mission
statement: To be the leader in energy efficiency and
power generation solutions, combining our unique experience
with innovation to deliver superior economic and environmental
results for our customers and our community. next>edge
is committed to developing the next generation of innovations
to protect our resources and create a revitalized environment
for all of us.

next>edge is a leading provider
and promoter of cogeneration systems for commercial
buildings. According to the CEC, cogeneration can
achieve fuel utilization and efficiencies as high
as 90 percent. Onsite cogeneration systems can also
reduce air emissions compared to grid delivered
central power. Although interconnection rules have
permitted cogeneration since 2000, fulfilling local
and utility requirements can still be challenging.
next>edge has successfully negotiated interconnection
and installed systems for 10 clients. |
