challenge The organization had been burdened with the added maintenance of chemically treating a water-cooled system, but they lacked the operating hours to realize a significant savings from running this somewhat more efficient type of plant. The existing system was run in a completely manual fashion, resulting in a burden on the staff and very poor temperature control.

While converting the plant from a water-cooled installation to an air-cooled system, an entirely new digital automation system was added, including system graphics. next>edge recommended that the client sacrifice a small amount of energy efficiency in the interest of avoiding future problems with chemical treatment.
