STEP FIVE: Implementation
Step five is to develop an implementation plan for all
projects and activities that meet the financial investment
criteria and are approved by upper management. The most
tangible, visible part of an energy performance program
is implementation. It is during this phase that we see
major lighting improvements, equipment installations,
crane lifts, massive training efforts, and many other
noticeable activities.
next>edge has vast experience conducting hundreds of
energy retrofit projects in fully occupied buildings.
We have completed lighting and HVAC projects at night,
returning building areas to their original condition for
tenants arriving for the next day’s work. We have
coordinated crane lifts in downtown districts and dealt
with many city regulatory authorities. These steps are
critical because the best-planned energy performance program
can gain a poor reputation and ultimately face cancellation
if the implementation process is disruptive and costly
to the owner and tenants.
Most importantly, next>edge has experience with all
the significant technologies employed in successful energy
enhancement programs, including lighting, building automation
and HVAC equipment. Each product and initiative that we
recommend will be a technology that we have first-hand
operating experience with over a period of at least five
years. We have tested numerous technologies in real world
facilities and portfolios, and we only recommend products
to customers after rigorous testing. |
| During
this process, next>edge will work with your management
and staff to: |
| 1. |
Dedicate
resources and assign responsibilities |
| 2. |
Meet
schedules and minimize impact on business operations |
| 3. |
Manage resources and budget |
| 4. |
Track
milestones and success |
next>edge believes that it is critical for employees
and staff to be an integral part of the implementation
process not only to ensure success, but also to ensure
that the energy policies and best practices are embedded
within your organization’s culture. |
